Alyssa - Are you passionate about helping others live a healthier life or manage health challenges? If yes, the medical field could be right for you. The great news is that the field has many different jobs requiring varying levels of education, there are jobs everywhere, and they pay reasonably well. On the opposite side, medical careers can require significant education and ongoing training and be very stressful - you literally have someone’s life in your hands. As a first step, learn more about different types of medical jobs though online research and talking to people preparing for and working in the medical jobs of greatest interest to you.

Hello Alyssa, thank you for taking the initiative to connect with us. You've asked a great question! For practical reasons, the medical field is becoming increasingly sought-after globally. This implies that no matter where you are, a career in medicine promises stability unlike many other professions that may lose relevance over time. If you have a passion for helping others and possess the necessary skills for this career, I encourage you to pursue it.
Now, I'd like to ask you something. Is your heart genuinely set on entering the medical field? Or, has someone influenced you to consider this path due to its promising employment prospects? In today's world, practicality often guides our choices, as survival often depends on our ability to apply our knowledge, skills, and abilities in our work. It doesn't matter who depends on you, it could be your children or someone else. Sometimes, we may have to compromise on our dream careers.
However, what truly matters is finding happiness in what you do. With time, you'll find that you've grown to love your work.
Visit your career counselor in school and ask some help in your career explorations.
Interview some medical personnel in the hospitals and get some insights from them.

Good Day, Alyssa !
I am not in the medical profession but I would like to contribute some advice to you. It may be a question you are asking yourself for reassurance and it is good to make inquires that will help you decide to go into the medical field or not. The medical field is ever so broad with a very wide range of specific careers that you could have if you decide to pursue it.
But you have asked why should you. You should only invest your time and finances to study something you love and that you have a calling for. That would be my basic reason for why anyone should go into a specific field. The medical industry is filled with all sorts of wonderful benefits that do not always come with some other careers that we may love. It is notorious for being one of the top high paying fields and one of the most needed, so you'd be able to always be working. If your career goal is to be instrumental in helping people, the medical field would be an ideal target to pursue.
I would also venture to say that you would have a very varied and interesting work day and you would continually learn more and more. There are opportunities to grow in your chosen niche or change careers whenever you feel the need to do so.
I hope this helps in your decision and I wish you all the best in choosing a special career - one that makes you happy, no matter what it is !
