Tiffanie’s Answer

When interviewing for a retail job, start by researching the company to understand its values and culture. Dress appropriately for the interview—aim for a neat, professional look.

Be ready to answer common questions about your previous experience, customer service skills, and how you handle challenging situations. Use specific examples from past jobs or experiences to illustrate your points.

Show enthusiasm for the role and the brand, and prepare a few questions to ask the interviewer about the team and store culture. Finally, express your willingness to learn and work flexible hours, as those qualities are often highly valued in retail. Good luck!

Network. Get to know others who work there. There are STACKS of applications and it can be hard to stand out on paper.

On the other hand, if someone who works there recommends you, that can go a long way. Do any of your friends work there? I’d bet if you asked within your circle, someone may know someone that could connect you.

Michelle’s Answer

Hello, Hunter !

You should keep in mind that employers screen applications and resumes and choose the people they believe have the best potential. This would mean that you will need to first build up experience within the year before you apply. You didn't mention which position you are applying for but I would recommend acing English, Writing and Public Speaking classes, read up on management skills, keep your grades high all year and learn more about the company, but there's no real answer on how you can "ace" an interview. That would be determined by the person interviewing you. It's going to be determined subjectively by the interviewer based on how you look, how you sound and the content of what you say. This, I can tell you, is how most interviews are.

I would recommend that you use some Interview Practice websites like My Interview Practice (link provided below). That will get you accustomed to how interviews flow and some usual questions you may be asked. From what I understand, they do receive a lot of applications, so you may want to even practice interviews by applying for other jobs and give yourself real life experience.

Whatever position you are applying for, learn as much as you can about it, even if it would be an entry level position. You could impress the interviewer that you are confident and knowledgeable.

I hope that this has been helpful and best wishes in all you do !
