If you are going into the medical field the basic subjects will be chemistry, biology, and math. If your school offers anatomy this is also a suggested class to take. Depending on your interest, I would research what a surgeon, tech support, a nurse, or doctor on the roles and responsibilities as well, this would help in understanding what other classes you may need to take.

I would recommend diving into all the science courses your school has to offer. Additionally some schools have healthcare-related courses that might give you a better idea of all the different facets of the field. If you decide to go into medicine there will a lot of chemistry, biology, and even math in your future. Getting a strong foundation and these disciplines will help you on your way to a future in medicine! This is a time to find out what your interested in and build strong roots. You will have plenty of time to iron out the detail of where you might like to end up in the future!

Hi Dirk! If you plan on doing a full undergraduate degree before going to medical school, you'll still have to take the general education courses that are required. These often include subjects like English, math, and possibly psychology or history. If your high school offers any courses in these areas for college credit, that can be a great way to get some non-major related credits out of the way. I'm not sure what structure the accelerated paths have, but I believe they require a few of these as well.
As far as major-related courses, the basic sciences are definitely helpful (chemistry, biology, physics). My school offered a physiology and anatomy elective course that would have been really helpful in hindsight. Physics was also not required at my school but I later had to take it for my major and it probably would have been helpful to have some previous knowledge of it.
In summary, I would focus on science electives and college credit opportunities. Hope this helps!
