Hi there, I am not a Criminal Defense lawyer but I have a background of criminal investigation. Although, my side of the law is prosecution I have learned the way to criminal defense. In criminal defense you have to know the fact, always. First, know your client and dig deep to his/her life history so you will be able to defend the case. It’s like taking psychology to the next level by knowing the behavior of your client. Why are you defending this person? Ask yourself. How do you defend such type of crime? Not only that, you have to learn the victim as well. So, that later you’ll be able to strategize your stance in court. As a criminal defense lawyer you will have paralegals who would do research and analyst who would think further. Make sure that your colleagues have a better understanding and better resources to get the case ready for you. Make sure you hired not only defending on the experience of your employee but also how they know and apply strategy in their line of work. Thus, if you’re ask by your teacher what makes a good criminal defense lawyer, it starts with your self discipline, your strategic approach of your case, and by knowing you hired the most strategic staff to defend the case. I hope this helps.
