Dear Alyssa,

That’s great to hear that you’re interested in pediatrics! Here are some classes you might consider for your 11th-grade year:

Science Classes: Courses like Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are fundamental for anyone interested in a medical career. You might also consider taking an Anatomy or Physiology course if your school offers it.

Math Classes: Pre-calculus, Calculus, and Statistics can provide a solid foundation for the types of quantitative reasoning used in medicine.

English Classes: Strong communication skills are crucial in medicine, so continue to develop your reading and writing skills through English classes.

Social Studies Classes: Courses like World History and American Government can help you understand the social and cultural contexts in which healthcare operates.

Elective Classes: Consider taking electives that might give you a broader perspective on health and wellness, such as a health education class or a psychology class.

Remember, these are just general guidelines. The exact classes available to you will depend on your school’s offerings. It’s always a good idea to talk with your school counselor to help plan your schedule. Good luck with your studies! 😊
