Hi Jennifer,
I'm a former professional ballet dancer and I applaud you for asking questions about the reality of a ballet career. There are many pros- ballet is a very creative career where you are surrounded by passionate artists that you become very close to. It teaches you grace under pressure, discipline, and the importance of hard work.
However, there are also many cons. It is a rigorous and strict career, you are expected to perform like the top athlete that you are, and often the discipline to keep yourself performing at your best is entirely up to you. Injuries are also unfortunately a part of it and can be difficult to manage and it's possible you may acquire an injury that reappears over the course of your life.
I highly suggest you take your time to decide if a ballet career is right for you. If possible, reach out to professional ballet dancers in companies you may be interested in to get a candid opinion of day-to-day life.
