To be completely honest the jobs available are not typically the type of forensics that your thinking of…. There are occasional openings for nurses to be a part of crime scene investigations but they are scarce and extremely low paying. When you see job openings for “forensic nurses” that are very high paying are actually SANE nurse positions SANE stands for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Probably the hardest most emotionally taxing nursing job possible. It takes a very special human to do that job.

Hi Sara,
Forensic nurses makes about $80,000 to $90,000 per year. Yes, it's possible that forensic nurses could come into contact with a lot of blood. Forensic nurses work closely with law enforcement and the judicial system. They primarily care for people who are survivors of violence (they also support their families). They can work in hospitals, mental health clinics, correctional facilities, and anti-violence programs. There are times where they can work as forensic nurse examiners and help gather information during autopsies that might help with a criminal investigation. The job requires you to be mentally strong because you might come across very sensitive violence cases.
