Hello, Bryce !

It's great that you have some auto mechanic training because it is also necessary for Farm Mechanic jobs. Car, truck and tractor repair knowledge and experience is required. You also must learn and be familiar with a wide variety of equipment and know how to repair them - anything used on a farm. Most employers want you to have a drivers license and good oral and written communication skills. Some places will want you to know how to weld, too and some may ask you to take a drug test. You may find that some employers will want you to have/use your own tools while other employers will supply you with the needed tools.

For now, try to get as much education and work experience as you can. See if there is a job placement office at your school or an employment services counselor there or in your community to give you that beneficial support while seeking a job after graduation. Either now or after graduation, register at the employment website Linked In and create a complete profile. There are job notices on there, too so you can do a website search for possible farm mechanic positions. You will have to be ready with a resume of work and volunteer position experience and education and knowledge of how to present at interviews. There are many resources on line that can instruct you with interviews and resumes. Once you are ready, you can start sending out your resumes for jobs. Make sure to stay in contact with your professional contacts, too as they may know of job opportunities.

I hope that this has been helpful and I wish you the best in school and with finding a position you will love !
