How can I find internships?

I'm a senior in high school, and I really want an internship. Where can I find internships? #internships

Thank you comment icon Hi Ramtin! It would be super helpful for Professionals to hear a little bit more about you in order to give you better, more specific advice. What are you interested in doing career wise, for example? I recommend editing your question about you and your skills and interests. A little bit more detail will go a long way! Best of luck! Thank you comment icon I agree with Lindsey (above) that including more detail would be helpful for reviewers to give you more specific insight. However, indeed.com and Handshake both provide various job postings you could look into. Sabina
Thank you comment icon So I plan to study chemistry in college next year, but overall I want to become a physician. I want to find an internship that would greatly influence my networking abilities and learn beyond just science, such more industrial. Ramtin

Hi Ramtin! Here are two ways to find an internship:

1) Network. Based on your interest in becoming a physician, I would recommend finding local physicians in your area that you could talk to! (You can easily do this on LinkedIn, by looking for someone's title near a specific zip code.) You can then ask them if they know of any internships at their company or others.

2) Apply online. Look at websites like Glassdoor or Indeed, which list jobs, and search for internships in your area. You can also filter by keywords, such as your interests. Then, you can apply online.
Thank you comment icon I agree! Although I am still in college, I work at a Career Center for students where we recommend using LinkedIn and Indeed.com as well. Handshake is an additional platform you can use while searching for jobs. Sabina
Thank you comment icon Handshake looks very cool! Thanks for sharing it. David DiGiammarino
Thank you comment icon You're welcome! Sabina
Thank you comment icon Hi! I manage a large internship program at a non profit. I recommend going to your university's career center (or for those in high school, your guidance counselor) and connecting with the staff there because they are FULL of knowledge, know professionals in the area, and can really help you boost your resume. I also suggest checking out internships.com and going to local job/internship fairs. Julie Nguyen

Ayazhan’s Answer

Hi !

I am an Intern in Tech Company right now.

I would suggest you to find a Programs that you are interested and learn what do you want to learn. There are a lot of opportunities to get an Internship just be specific, do some researches and learn you passion areas, what are you passionate about. What field/ major/ work/industry are you interested in?

Based on that it will get easier to find a job you like, and programs that fit more.

Ayazhan recommends the following next steps:

Do some research on Year Up Program, they have an amazing opportunities for youth to become professional and to gain hard and soft skills.
Search for Tech Programs that will help you to attend and earn an internship at the end of the Program , preferably in your city
Try out Handshake and other Netwokking event/ Seminars that is happening in your city, and try to attend there, meet people and expand your network
I met a lot of people through networking so meet people, and ask why there on that position that there are today, how did they get there and ask questions.
Share experiences and learn experiences, you can be on their spot one day.
