Here’s what my coursework was like for a Mechanical Engineer degree:
- Lots of engineering classes obliviously, which combined mathematics and the hard sciences (physics, chemistry, etc) to solve real world problems
- Advanced mathematics (calculus plus a little bit more)
- Science courses “for engineers”, which delve a bit more into the math involved
- Introductory coding classes (though I added a CS minor, which took a deeper dive into coding)
- A Senior Capstone class where we (a team of students) collaborated with a local engineering company and worked on a year-long design project
- Several one-course topics like technical writing, 3D CAD design, engineering ethics, and elective courses

Every major (career) has different requirements. I was a psychology major. I took Statistics, Philosophy, English, History, Psychology and Biology courses. You can look up your career of choice and see what the requirements are. I picked the classes I wanted by seeing the description.
