I am in Archery which i would like to do in college but all of the colleges are out of state and there are limited options of schools that have an archery program. would i be better off going to school in state and finding a different way of doing the sport or going to one of the schools with the archery program.

Hello, Marla !

My advice is to go to school in state and I can suggest something to help you continue with your archery.

You should choose a school locally because it sounds as though the schools offering archery being out of state is a deal breaker for you as you mention that you would "like to. . but..." as if being out of state is not doable - and maybe it's not the best option. There are still things you can do without having to move away.

Since you are currently an archer, you must know many other archers in your town. You can form a group. You can also use the website Meet Up to form a club in your area. You also must be familiar with the Minnesota State Archery Association and their events. I have provided a link to their website below for you. There are many ways you can be involved in your sport while being a full time student, without the expense and disruption of having to relocate just to do archery. Look no further than your own backyard !

So, my opinion is, no it is not worth it to move away to do any sport just because a college offers it within their curriculum. The more important thing is to choose a college that will give you a good major program. I myself was always able to continue with things such as swimming, tennis and skating while I was a full time student, all off campus.

Ultimately, the choice is up to you and no matter what you choose, I wish you all the best !

Dear Marla,

The primary goal during your college years should be to focus on your studies and strive towards graduation. However, it's essential not to overlook the potential benefits of engaging in sports. It could provide you with a much-needed equilibrium, the chance to be part of a dynamic team, and even open doors to a lucrative career.

Stay safe,
Aisha

Hello Marla, good day!

This is a great question. My idea would be to probably go to one of the Schools with an Archery program. Have fun getting an education while doing something you like/love to do. Even with a career, it’s important to do something you enjoy doing, so I think it is OK to pick a school that has something you like. You never know. You could compete in Archery in the Olympics one day 😊, or on any level 😊. But even if that is not part of your life goals, at least you would’ve had fun trying this in college. But the choice is yours, even with me saying this. Let the outcome be what you want or think is best.

Keep being you, and remember that Jesus loves you.
