How to become a elementary school teacher?

I wanna be a elementary school teacher, how can i achieve this? And what are other paths as well? I do want to work with children so is there any other careers that are suggested?

I was an elementary school teacher for 24 years and I also worked as a principal for 6. In addition to Karin's answer, I will offer some other ideas for careers where you can work with children. Speech therapists, school psychologists, school counselors, and social workers are very important people who work with children and support their development. You may want to look into these professions as alternatives to being a teacher.

Hi Victoria,

You will need to earn a bachelors in elementary education and get licensed in the state you want to teach in, meaning you need to pass an exam covering subject knowledge and pedagogy knowledge. Many teachers also get a Masters in education (some states might require it). After getting your teaching license there is probably a period (typically a year) of supervised teaching.
