Hello Brennen! I appreciate your thoughtful questions and the diverse answers they can yield. Perhaps at the end of this exchange, you’ll discover the underlying concept you’re seeking.

What is an artistic creation? One definition that comes to mind is: the act of bringing into existence something that did not exist before, and doing so in an elevated manner that can express itself.

Who is an artist? An artist is a human who primarily executes their mental ideas through their hands using a chosen technique.
Of course, there can be multiple answers to this question. For instance, there’s a quote attributed to Leonardo da Vinci that goes:

“The artist has to refine their spirit in order to reach a more beautiful and clearer vision. In this way, they can perceive beauty and create it.”

In my opinion, recognizing and nurturing your own talent over time can be a suitable path toward entering the realm of art. If you’re interested in painting, consider dedicating 4 to 5 hours each day to bringing your mental visions to life on canvas. After a month, you’ll witness remarkable growth. Observing keenly, paying attention to details, acquiring knowledge about colors and proportions, and honing your manual skills for executing various artistic mediums all contribute to ensuring success. Art is a domain that perpetually holds a wealth of information for those who seek to learn.

Your youthful energy and determination will undoubtedly lead you toward your goals. Best of luck!

Hi Brennen!

It's awesome you're starting to think about your future like this.
Now, there are a multitude of different kinds of artists and it all begins with you narrowing down which one you are. Art can refer to illustrations, digital art, traditional art, animation, motion design, storyboarding, filmmaking, etc. This is a great opportunity for you to go down the list and circle what interests you the most.
You can ask yourself questions like:
1. Do I enjoy drawing?
2. Do I enjoy creating videos and editing them?
3. Do I want to tell a story?
4. Computer software or traditional materials?

Little by little you will begin to see where you best fit in.

Once you have decided, that's when you can begin to dive right into the fundamentals of that discipline. There are currently so many resources at the tip of your fingers (Youtube, Linkedin, Community College Courses, Online Programs, Mentorships, etc)!

You got this!

I think an excellent first step would be to research types of art jobs, and figure out exactly what you love about it. Today there is a huge variety of visual art careers, from computer animated cartoons and video games, to art teacher at a school and teacher of painting classes for adults.

Looking into available options and going 'yes' or 'no' to each will help you NAME your options, and potentially eliminate a few, making everything less overwhelming.

Secondly, you could start a social media page (depending on your age and parental permissions of course, and be careful of internet safety), solely dedicated to your art, to get visibility and exposure. Potentially, you could start an etsy page doing commissions!

Hope these help.
