Hi,
There are a few different ways to get into the Auto Body field, first you can take shop courses at your school if they have them. Or, you can go to a trade/1 or 2 year school to learn auto body...some community colleges offer classes and degrees in auto body.
Last, the military also has careers in mechanics/auto body if you are interested in a military career.
Good luck!

Hello Randolph hope you are having a wonderful day. The best way to get into auto body is by talking to someone who has been in the job or industry for a long time, 10 years+. The best way to do this is to go to or call a local shop and ask for the manager and have a few questions prepared to ask him about the best way to get a job in that field and how to pursue a career. If you have any questions after that, I'm sure the manager can answer or point you in the right direction. And just in case that doesn't work, don't be afraid to call and ask a few different shops to get a few different ideas. I hope this helps and you find out the best way that works for you. Have a great day Randolph.

Randolph, in case you are talking about the design aspect of auto bodies then you would have another two ways.
Going to design school and majoring in the transportation industry. You would work on sketching vehicle designs for automakers after graduation. I only know of two schools which offer that major, one in Michigan and the other in California.
Going to engineering school and majoring in mechanical engineering while concentrating on computer aided design software packages. You would on creating vehicle components virtually.
Hope you the best.
