What will help me prepare for college?
I don't know how to apply for college but I do know the career that I would like, anything to do with music, art, and photography.

One practical step you can take is to personally visit the school you're interested in. If possible, participate in several tours to get a thorough understanding of the campus. Begin by heading to the admissions office. Engage in a conversation with a counselor, and provide them with a copy of your academic transcript detailing the classes you've completed. It might be necessary to bring your high school diploma for them to digitize and add to their records, although I'm not entirely sure about this.
If you've taken the SAT, it would be beneficial to bring along your score report. Many colleges implement an entrance exam to determine the courses you'll need to undertake. This is primarily to assess your proficiency in English and Math, which will dictate the level of classes you'll be enrolled in. Therefore, it would be wise to brush up on your Math and English skills. If you don't perform well, you might end up in lower-level classes that may not count towards your transfer from a community college to a four-year university.
You also have the freedom to choose electives in areas such as photography, art, or music. However, it's crucial to consider your career aspirations. There may be specific classes or courses outside of college that can equip you with the necessary knowledge for your desired job. Therefore, it's important to research the career you wish to pursue and understand its requirements.

Erfan’s Answer
Hello Shyla,
My name is Erfan, I'm a proud Cornish College of the Arts Graduate with the Bachelor of Music degree in Piano. I live in Seattle Washington and I'll be happy to advice you in regards to your College prep questions. firstly, I understand that you would like to do anything with Art such as Photography or anything with Music. My great recommendation for the Arts for College would be definitely Cornish College of the Arts because it has all of the arts majors only. they have Music production, Piano major, Violin and all other instruments. It sounds like you don't know how to apply for college based on what I read. My advice to you: I recommend searching for colleges that you want to apply. go to the common application website and it has the ability to search colleges by major. once you found the colleges that you want to apply, you would click on the college name and you will find apply. If you want to apply to the college that I recommended to you, you can go directly to their website and you will find the apply link at the homepage of the website. another important advice for you:
college essays and recommendation letter are important aspects of the college applications because you will have a higher chance of your applications to be accepted. for the recommendation letter, it needs to be done by your teacher and for the essay, my first recommendation is to search and view a few essay samples before starting to write. It's important for you to write things that college wants to know and understand such as your dreams, your goals, why you want to study and your passion for arts.
Another recommendation that came off my mind is that some of the colleges will require you to have SAT test attached to your application and some of them are not requiring you to have SAT test. for example, the College that I recommended to you, Cornish College don't require you to have SAT.
also, college will vary and depends on the season. what season are you looking to go? Are you looking for College terms by semesters or quartered based term?

Hi!
As far as I know there isn't one major that would do music/art/photography all in one. If you can't focus on one, perhaps taking some classes at a community college will help you choose (as well as getting some gen-ed credits done).
Things to consider:
Do you want to teach these subjects?
Do you want to be a musician and/or Artist and/or Photographer? If is what type of music, art, photography?
Will I need to build a portfolio to apply?
Answering these questions can narrow down what college to go to. Some schools might offer these degrees but not teaching (IF you want to teach). Or they might offer these, but maybe there are better schools to help you on your journey.
Once you decided and find a school (there are a lot of ways to find the best school, I'd recommend looking at question posted on this site for advice if needed), to apply go to the school's website. They'll have detailed instructions on how to do that, including if you need to submit a portfolio of your current work or if you need to try out for anything. Your high school guidance councilor is another good resource for help.
I hope this helps!
