Anyone have ideas as to where a second year college student may volunteer?
I'm a college student interested in child psychology currently looking for any kind of volunteer experience possibly a job to start building my skills and resume.
Thx!

Hi,
As far as volunteer work is concerned, here are some opportunities that should be interesting:
1. 7 Cups (as a Volunteer Listener) - https://www.7cups.com/listener/become-a-volunteer-listener.php
2. Crowd2Map Tanzania (as a Mapper Volunteer) - https://crowd2map.org/get-involved/how-we-map/
3. Led By Foundation - https://www.ledby.org/volunteerwithus
4. Prison Journalism Project - https://prisonjournalismproject.org/volunteer/
5. Amnesty International (as a Decoder Volunteer) - https://decoders.amnesty.org/
6. Learning For a Cause - https://www.learningforacause.com/join-the-team
Hope this helps.

Hi, Martha -
As a college student, you should have access to a career center on your campus. These centers have counselors on staff that can assist you. You can also ask if there is an online system or other clearinghouse option for volunteer opportunities.
Depending on the advising model at your institution, your academic advisor in the advising center or your department (if a declared major) may have opportunities or suggestions based on companies that they partner with or have had prior students volunteer.
If you have exhausted your resources on campus, consider a national volunteer clearinghouse website such as https://www.volunteermatch.org/. The size of San Antonio allows for additional volunteer opportunities in city departments (http://www.sanantonio.gov/Commpa/Volunteer) as well as larger organizations like these: United Way (https://www.unitedwaysatx.org/volunteer/) and SA Food Bank (https://safoodbank.org/ways-to-help/give-time/).
I commend you on your interest and proactiveness! The best of luck to you in your endeavors!
