What is some advice you wish you received before you began an education to be a therapist?
I am already almost done with my bachelors degree in psychology, and I've recently realized I haven't thought about what steps I need to take to continue my education. Any advice helps!

If you might have any interest in the programs offered by The Townsend Institute (https://www.cui.edu/townsend), they have a good reputation for helping people get a graduate degree and be professionally connected and ready to go out and serve the world afterward.

Hello, Samantha !
Your next step would be to get your Masters degree and plan on going further onto a PhD Degree. To obtain licensure, you will need 3,500 supervised hours of work as a psychologist and passing an exam.
After you receive your doctorate in Psychology, you can apply in Missouri for a provisional license. You complete an application and send in a fee and a photo of yourself. You also send with the application a supervision agreement, a post-degree supervision plan, social security disclosure notice, three mental health professional references, fingerprints for background check, and proof of at least 2 hours of suicide assessment training. Your official transcript from where you've graduated will be required, too. Provisional licenses are good for one year and are not renewable.
Once you obtain the provisional license, you can start putting in hours to get in the required 3,500 hours needed for your license. Than take the Missouri psychology license exams, pass and you're on your way. All you have to do is wait for the State Committee of Psychologists board to send you your license.
