I recently discovered externships. My career path is Zoology, what externships would be best best for hands-on and traveling?
My desired career is to be a Zoologist and to travel from continent to continent. I want to travel to study the variety of animals, and I am wanting to know what steps I can take to gain experience while I am studying. #Texas #externship #zoology #biology

A great way to get hands-on experience and travel would be to look into internships that provide housing! Be mindful that some are paid, either an hourly wage or provide stipends, and some are not. Internships can either offer housing or housing assistance. A good resource for U.S based facilities would be searching internships through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums jobs site (https://www.aza.org/jobs). You'd have to see the individual postings to see whether or not they provide housing. Another alternative would be to search the web for Internships that also provide housing. Don't be afraid to send an email to a facility to ask for more information on their housing options and general internship information!
Some internships range from a few weeks to a few months, so be mindful of your school breaks as well when looking into internship. It may be best to start researching local facilities that would be easy to commute to from your own home!
