How do I know what job is the right job?
How do I know what job will be best for me? what factors into it? I want t to make good money but I also want to have a job I know I will like and actually want to go to everyday, not one I say "ugh I have to go to work".

Finding the balance can be tricky. I knew I wanted to help people, but I also wanted to make enough money to support my family. I found that I could find a job where I could get paid well and help decide what community organizations we would support through donations and community giving.
If you were in the future getting an award for your work, what would you want the award to be for? Did you impact your community, did you create something new? Based on your answer, it might help you decide which path makes sense for you.

I had the same questions several years ago! This is very normal to feel.
Personally, to start I would recommend that you choose a career that you can make a decent living on - especially if you have student loans. Even if this is not your dream job. You really don't know what is out there until you start working a job! Once you start working you will figure out what you enjoy and what you don't and then you can transition from there! And making enough money to start where you aren't stressed out all the time will allow you to have flexibility in choosing your next role.

Well to begin with think about the interests you currently have what are some things you're passionate about. Also, do your research and ask for virtual coffee chats with professionals you can easily find them on linked in and from there you can ask the person who you should interview to get the answers you need. Choose a career where you're continuing to learn and grow every single day. Also, when you go to college try to be involved some students know more than you and you will learn from them, and you can get an idea or hint what you want or what is out there.

Hey Lila, first, it is important to identify your skills, strengths, weaknesses, interests, and values. This self-reflection and self-assessment part is essential to understand what you are naturally good at. When you are good at something, you are probably going to make good money, you just have to put effort and develop even more your skills and what is going to take you to the next level. Try to connect to people who you admire and work at the career that you are pursuing, and understand what were their inspirations at your age and what made them choose this career path. Be bold, and have a positive attitude!

Hello Lila,
Reflecting on the same questions I once pondered during my high school years, I encourage you to delve into discovering your unique strengths that could be beneficial in a future career. Are you a whiz at math? Do you find joy in connecting with others? Do you thrive when working solo or do you prefer the synergy of a team? Exploring these questions can guide you towards your ideal career path.
Once you've identified your strengths and preferences, the next step is to research careers that align with these attributes. Additionally, consider the financial aspect - examine the starting and potential peak salaries of these roles to ensure they can provide a comfortable lifestyle.
Remember, every job comes with its fair share of tasks that may not be particularly enjoyable. However, the key focus should be on the skills you love developing and the uplifting camaraderie of your colleagues. This is the essence of a fulfilling career.

Hi Lila,
Finding the right job can be a challenging task. One way to help you identify suitable career paths is to take a career test. These tests can help you understand your personality traits, interests, and skills, and suggest careers that align with them. You can find many free career tests online, such as the one offered by CareerExplorer 1.
Another way to explore potential career paths is to talk to people who share similar interests. You can ask them about their jobs and how their work connects to their interests. This can help you gain insights into different career paths and identify ones that might be a good fit for you.
Finally, you can try different roles and jobs to see what you like. Internships are a great way to gain hands-on experience in a field that interests you. You can find internships through your college or university, or by searching online job through Linkedin.

Lila, this is a very good question that many people ask themselves daily. I believe that discovering the ideal career path that harmonizes with both financial aspirations and personal fulfillment is a crucial journey. Reflecting on what you love, pinpointing activities that genuinely make you happy, and choosing a career that aligns with these interests can significantly enhance your daily contentment.
Moreover, it's important to evaluate your skills and strengths; understanding and utilizing your abilities can make your job more enjoyable and fulfilling. It's also essential to consider the culture of your potential workplace and how it aligns with your personal values and principles. This can greatly contribute to finding purpose in your daily tasks.
I've found that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial. It allows you to relish your personal life while meeting professional obligations. Personally, I find joy in my work and the challenge of solving complex problems every day. But remember, everyone is different.
Setting long-term career goals, researching the culture of potential employers, staying updated on industry trends, and networking through informational interviews are all key parts of this self-discovery process. Ensuring that you have a deep love for your work, or at least striving to find a job that sparks your passion, can greatly diminish those "oh no, it's work time" blues. Remember, it's perfectly fine if your first job doesn't ignite that spark in you. Discovering what you don't enjoy is equally as vital as figuring out what you do enjoy. This journey can serve as an excellent opportunity to develop other skills. So, when you eventually land a job that truly excites you, you'll be armed with a robust set of skills to excel in it.

Camryn’s Answer
Hey Lila, don't stress too much about money. Yes, it's good to have, but your mental well-being for the next 40+ years is far more valuable than the amount of cash in your bank. Try job shadowing in fields that pique your interest. Engaging in conversations about work-life balance, daily routines, and internships can be a great way to discover the career that suits you best. When I was in college, I noticed a lot of people were solely focused on pursuing careers that promised big bucks. However, less than a year later, many of them have already left their jobs. So, remember, it's not just about the money, it's about finding what makes you happy and fulfilled.
