I am 13 years old and I am looking to do online art classes for a side project. Free would be preferred of course, but anything helps!

Hey Colin,
I'm thrilled you reached out! There's a treasure trove of resources available, many of which won't cost you a dime, making them perfect for a side project. Let's take a look at some options:
YouTube Channels: Think of YouTube as a treasure chest filled with free art tutorials. Channels like Proko are a fantastic source of lessons on drawing basics, anatomy, and beyond. Jazza is another great channel that offers entertaining and engaging content on drawing and digital art.
Khan Academy: This platform offers complimentary courses on a broad spectrum of subjects, including art history and the basics of art. They've even teamed up with Pixar to present "Pixar in a Box," a course that explores the art and science of animation.
Coursera and edX: These platforms feature free courses from universities across the globe. You can discover courses on art, design, and creativity. While you can access the courses for free, you might need to shell out a bit if you're interested in a certificate of completion.
I hope this helps you on your journey!

Hello Colin,
What a great question, and that is so exciting you have an interest in art and want to learn more! The best place I can recommend you to start with would be YouTube, as many artist YouTubers have tutorials to help guide you to draw something specific. If you don't have anything specific that you want to learn to draw and want to take a course in general to learn how to draw, you can try the course Drawing for Kids, Amplify Your Shading Skills, and Overview of Gesture Drawing which are free on Udemy and might be a good place to start.
I also found this website article that lists the 12 best free drawing courses for beginners, and from looking at the list, it covers a wide range of topics that are useful to learn about when first getting into drawing/art. If you are interested, here is the link: https://www.classcentral.com/report/best-drawing-courses/anchor-1.
I do know of another site called Skillshare that has a ton of art/drawing-related courses, but it is not free, it does require one to pay $32 per month after the free trial, or if you rather pay annually it's $168. I know it sounds like a lot of money, but I mean it when I say there is a plethora of content for you to learn drawing on the side. You can learn to draw traditionally and digitally, from a reference photo, using an image you are envisioning in your head, etc. If you are interested in looking at the site, here is the link: https://www.skillshare.com/en/?via=header.
I hope this helps you to get started on your art journey, and I wish you the best of luck!
