How does positive psychology relate to attitudes in the workplace?
I am in a class right now on positive psychology and want to know how to apply that to my life.

In both your professional life and personal life, your reactions are key. You may not have control over external circumstances, but you do have control over your responses and how you perceive intentions.
Always try to see the best in others, concentrate on the aspects you can influence, and maintain a positive attitude. Each day is a fresh start, a new beginning. Embrace it as such.

Positive psychology at work is all about making the office a happier place. It's about inspiring hopeful attitudes, building up resilience, and encouraging a go-getter mindset. This leads to happier employees and stronger team connections. It's all about creating a workplace that's not only productive but also joyful.

Have you just begun your course in Positive Psychology because the best way to know how to apply it to the workplace would be, indeed, to take a course in it. You will learn how to apply the principals to your personal and professional life if you take a course. If that is not being covered, I highly advise that you ask your teacher. If you are not grasping the content of the class, ask for help or study with a fellow classmate.
An example of applying positive psychology in the workplace would be during a time that you are feeling challenged, losing interest in being at the job or having negative issues with colleagues. You should take stock of your good qualities and see if the activity within your office is enhancing or improving your good qualities and skills or not. If you find that you'd no longer personally and professionally benefit from being there, than obtain a different job first before quitting. This would be an instance where you have applied positive psychology steps in the workplace. It's first best to develop it in your personal life, however. Than it will become natural and second nature to apply it in the workplace.
Managers can use positive psychology to build loyalty and resilience (which just means being supportive to the worker) in their employees. But basically, all positive psychology is really is a healthy mind set and caring about other people, taking care of yourself and being respectful. I don't mean to sound glib, but these are attributes that can be taught within the family unit or through socialization.
In life, there are going to be many happy, positive experiences as well as very seriously challenging experiences and it would be impossible to be what we call happy all the time. Perhaps we're not supposed to be and rather we need to experience a range of emotions to be true to ourselves. Positive Psychology is just about learning lessons from challenges, not seeing them as failures, moving on and living up to your full potential. Basic psychology courses can cover these same elements. So if you are confused about how Positive Psychology is applied to life, I would advise taking a regular psychology class to first learn the theories behind human behavior and how we develop as humans. However, if you are in a class on positive psychology and are not grasping how it is applied, you can always ask your teacher to explain the various ways it is applied. But really, it is very much like basic psychology, but with a twist.
