How do we start our careers?
Start by looking at what your skills are and find that skill in a major at college.

I’d say begin with the end in mind. Know what you are working towards and look at the journey of others in the industry.
You can look at job histories on LinkedIn. Sometimes you need to start entry level, but by having a sense of how others have found success, you might be able to mirror that success.

Hi Destiny, it can definitely be daunting to think about how to narrow in on what career you want, especially when you're still a student.
One thing I always kept in mind when I was in high school applying to college, then when I got to college and picked a major, etc. is what my priorities are in a career: do I need to make a certain amount to be happy, what kind of work will be fulfilling for me, do I want to work with people, what can I see myself doing for ~8 hours a day, 5 days a week for most of my life.
There are many jobs that may check all these boxes - I'd start by identifying what your needs and wants are in a career and then start researching what kind of skills and possibly degrees you'd need as well as what majors in college would get you there. At this point, you may not have many of the skills you need but you can definitely start identifying and working on them.
And a good thing to remember is that everyone's path is different - there are health/science majors that end up working at a tech company, engineers who end up getting their law degree, etc. - if you take a look at LinkedIn and search for positions/companies you may have an interest in, you'll see that many people have different journeys to getting to where they are.
While it can be as straightforward as majoring in Computer Science and becoming an Engineer or majoring in Biology and becoming a doctor - just remember that not every path might be as straightforward. Just think about your interests and the skills you're interested in developing and go from there! I highly recommend reaching out to people on LinkedIn for coffee chats to get an idea of their career journey and get advice on what would work for you.

Hello Destiny,
Your career path is important to upgrade your profile. Likewise, there are numerous job opportunities out there. If you request to have a rewarding career, you should test yourself what are your hobbies that you have talented enough, and a passionate about, how you take it for granted that you will find the perfect job, and why you have to contribute with others while volunteering/internship/part-time job, or even the clubs (photography etc.)
You should have a career plan with your to do list, and a list of career opportunities. You should know soft and hard skills, and emotional intelligence in order to match the job description. Yet, you should apply for volunteering and/or internship opportunities first. Once you have done your application, you should focus on interviews and other requirements in order to be accepted.
I hope this helps.
