Ramtin’s Answer

Hi Jeffrey! To answer your question, there isn't a minimum score on the SAT to go into nursing school. Each school has a different range of scores. Obviously, the best programs are more competitive and require scores of a minimum of like the high 1300s. If I were you, I would shoot for anything above a 1400 because then it gives you more options for nursing programs, but receiving anything around a 1300 will be good.

Hey! I found that UPenn has the best undergraduate nursing program currently (https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/best-colleges-for-nursing/) and the school's 50% range for SAT is 1450-1570.

Herbert N.’s Answer

What do you mean by really into nursing. What is your background that gives you that feeling that you're really into nursing?have you been in nursing assistant, a paramedic and emt. There are so many career paths for a graduate of a nursing school that you have to have more than a quote being into nursing end quote. Some experience to a hospital setting or a doctor's office setting would be valuable to help you determine if an interest is really there or just some feeling that you have from watching TV shows or whatever. Depending upon what kind of work you do it can be brutally hard. You have to realize that nurses are not paid what they are worth so your expectations going into the field have to be realistic. So many people get into the field and then they're out of it in a few years because it was not what they expected at all. And the pay was nowhere near what they expected. I would suggest you sit down with a nursing recruiter from a hospital or another health career field to get a true feel for what is involved with being a nurse. There are so many different things that nurses do that there may well be something suited to you but you have to have a recognition of what those things are and an awareness of who and what you are. I've been blessed by 5 decades of working in a field that I truly love to go to work everyday and I started as a nurse's aide at a county hospital. I had invaluable exposure to a wide variety of patients and a wide variety of nurses.

Herbert N. recommends the following next steps:

Seek out a nurse recruiter to get a feel for what is expected of nurses. It is 24/7, 7 days a week
Read professional literature of various fields of nursing at the library
Talk to local nurses who are currently working in the field. Find a way to network with them
