Doc’s Answer

There are a few things that you can do to increase your chances, Gentille:

Start early and search year-round — No matter what stage in the college process you’re at, you should start looking for scholarships now. There are even scholarships that high school students can receive before senior year. Scholarship deadlines vary, so setting some time aside every few weeks to search and apply will open up more opportunities of securing a scholarship.

Use the right search engine — Finding scholarships to apply for can be difficult, but with the right search engine you can narrow your search and find scholarships you’re eligible for. FASTWEB is a free scholarship search platform that connects students to college scholarships, trade school scholarships, and financial aid tools.

Find a balance — You should apply for several scholarships, the more you apply for, the better your chances of receiving one. However, it’s important to use your time wisely. You should only apply for those you’re eligible for, based on the requirements.

Research local scholarships — Local scholarships tend to have fewer applicants, meaning you may be more likely to get them. Your high school counselor or college financial aid department might have insight about where to find and apply for local scholarships. Be sure to talk to others in your community, and check with local businesses and organizations like banks and churches.

Paul’s Answer

I would look at the foundation, of the college or university, you wish to attend.

Many colleges have foundations that manage private donor endowments. Many of the private donors provide sponsorships of scholarships and grants to deserving students.

Foundation scholatships can be based on various criteria. They can be based on a major, future occupation, ethnicity, or other specific element.

So, I would check the foundation page of the college or university you are or will be attending and check the scholarship requirements, and what you qualify to apply for.

Rian’s Answer

Hi Gentille,
Depending on where you are applying from, scholarships are a great way to sponsor your education. Many colleges will offer both merit and need based scholarships that are available to anyone who applies. If you are interested in a certain school, I would recommend looking into their different scholarship opportunities to understand what is right for you. Similarly, filling out your student aid FAFSA form every year can help you get a better idea of how much aid you qualify for, and can also open opportunities to other scholarships.

Best of luck to you!

To secure sponsorship/scholarship for your education, start by researching potential sponsors and checking their eligibility criteria. Prepare a strong application package and reach out to sponsors through various channels. Attend scholarship events, network with professionals, alumni, staff, faculty, and seek recommendations. Apply to multiple opportunities, follow instructions, and be prepared for interviews. Stay persistent and don't get discouraged. Good luck with your search!

Xiaojie Johan’s Answer

Hi Gentille,

There are a multitude of scholarships out there that you can apply to. You can also earn some scholarships based on certain exams you can take. I don't know what country you're asking from, but in the United States, some universities hand out scholarships to certain students when you are an exceptional candidate. Happened to me when I applied to Northeastern University back in the day. They gave me the Dean's Scholarship that covered part of the tuition. Really thankful of that! I'd apply widely to certain scholarships and to universities as they might provide you with a merit based scholarship.

Best of luck!

Regards,

Johan
