How much does it cost to start up a lawyers office?
I am just a 6 grader and I am just wondering if I could still get the best area and still my first year.
I was thinking about 150 dollars to see people. Every court date is $950

Ezra, almost always a beginning lawyer will work in another laywer's office at first. Law school teaches about laws and other basics that every lawyer must know, but a person must learn many practical things about being a lawyer (not covered in school) before they can work entirely on their own. Usually a more experienced laywer teaches these things in a practical setting. It's like an apprenticeship. By the time a lawyer has enough experience working in someone else's office, they are making enough money that the cost of setting up an office is usually no longer a big challenge.
To answer your question directly, the actual cost of setting up an office will depend on where the lawyer is. In many cases, a lawyer can work from his or her home at the very beginning, and may not need an office at all. In a small town it might cost $5,000-$10,000 to rent a small space, buy a computer and furniture, and get other essentials. In a very big city, that number might be closer to $50,000 or even $100,000.
By the way, I am not a lawyer, but my father is a retired lawyer. He practiced law for 35 years in his own one-man office.

Hello Ezra,
Do not worry your mentors will help you start your office in a law firm or you can work for other lawyers too doing an internship. You will do just fine. Good luck.
