How hard is applying for colleges?
I want to understand the negatives and positives of applying for college and how hard it will be. I want to make a good expression on the college I'm going too, I just don't know how.

Don't stress it too much, applying for college is rather straight forward. First and foremost make sure you've done a bit of research into the college in question. Their curriculums, financial aid, post graduate aid and campus life. If you have any doubts you can always call up the college and talk with a representative. In some colleges you will be asked to include an admissions essay as part of the enrollment process. This is primarily a means for you to introduce yourself to the college and expand on your career goals. There might be instances in which the college will ask for an interview, sometimes on campus or sometimes a phone interview. Don't worry it's usually a representative trying to understand your academic goals and looking to help you get better acquainted with college life.
Always remember that all application process involves filling out your FAFSA and properly budgeting for college life. Take your time with researching, but also deciding on which college is the most ideal for you.

Hi Eva,
There are a couple of things you can do to make a good impression on the colleges you are applying to.
The most important thing to do is to talk to them. When an admissions rep comes to your school talk to them. If the school you are interested in does not do a visit to your school reach out to them in an email. Sometimes they do virtual visits or information sessions you can attend to ask questions as well. Or go do a campus visit before applying. This way you can find out what they are looking for in your application.
*Also when you do a campus visit or they come to your school they usually will give our application fee waivers. Try not to pay for applications- there are often ways to get the fee waived. Around October ( College Application Month) they will waive fees.*
The next thing to do is talk to your school's guidance counselor or college advisor to make sure you have everything you need to apply and put your best foot forward.
You can also use The Common Application, which is accepted by more than 1,000 colleges, and lets you apply to multiple schools with one application.
Do your research. Make sure you have done your research before applying. It will show if you have not when you do your application.
Applications are usually not too complicated. Some require more than others. Typically you will need:
-A completed application with your information
-Your transcripts and test scores
-An essay- that explains your interest in attending
Additional things sometimes also asked for:
-Letter of recommendation
- Resume
-FAFSA
If you ask for help from the college admissions team and your school's counselor you should have no problem making a good impression!
I hope this helps!
