Hello Rebecca,
My advice would be to Major in Criminal Justice. Also, if you go to https://www.careersingovernment.com/ and search for Law Enforcement jobs it will give you an idea of what requirements there are for law enforcement positions.

If you are interested in becoming a police officer, I would suggest majoring in Criminal Justice in college.
Upon applying for employment as a police officer or any job in law enforcement, the more education and practical experience you have can help greatly. I would suggest obtaining an associates or bachelors degree in criminal justice and if possible, work at least part time in a job that will give you practical experience, which is just as important.
One of the best jobs I had prior to becoming a police officer was working as a security officer at a hospital. It offered many similar duties as a police officer. Patrolling the interior and exterior of the hospital on foot and in a patrol vehicle, interacting with the general public during visiting hours, dealing with intoxicated or mentally unstable patients (restraint or de-escalation), report writing, 2-way radio communications experience, to name a few.
Once you are working in law enforcement, you can always continue your education, whether it's to obtain a higher criminal justice degree if you are thinking of earning a higher rank, or maybe minor in: photography, forensics, accounting ect if you are interested in a special assignment as a crime scene photographer, crime scene evidence collection, or business/insurance fraud.
Wish you the BEST!
