How does one actually win scholarships?
I am in the process of applying to as many scholarships as possible, but I need to actually receive some of them in order to not take out an insane amount in college loans. #college #scholarships #money

Persistence. You have to knock on a lot of doors. I would suggest reaching out to community groups, unions, and local businesses where you are from to see if they offer any tuition or supply reimbursement. A lot of them don't advertise and therefore have very few applicants.

This person above hit the nail on the head when it comes to local and charitable scholarships. But, another way to earn scholarships is to excel in school. This can earn you deans scholarships, academic excellence scholarships and other scholarships on a school by school basis. This will help make certain colleges more affordable. In addition, doing well on your state testing (for massachusetts it was called MCAS), can earn you state scholarships that go to any state school. All these can drastically cheapen tuition.
