Hi Hailey - the great thing about working in real estate is the flexible hours, meaning realtors can typically set their own hours/schedules. Keep in mind most successful realtors work full time hours (32 - 40 hours a week). Many hours are during the evening and weekends when potential sellers/buyers are more available to meet. When not listing/selling homes realtors are networking with mortgage lenders, title companies, closing agents, real estate attorneys, etc....to build a base of potential clients by referrals from these different areas. I would suggest contacting a successful, local real estate agent(s) to talk with him/her and shadow him/her for a day or two to see what a day in the life is like. Best of luck to you!

Hi Hailey,
Like so many other careers, you get out of it what you put into it. In real estate, it can take a while to develop a clientele when you are first starting as an agent. It will be up to you to find your own clients and this takes a lot of work. The most successful agents I know started out by coming to the office every morning and working a full day even though they didn't have any actual real estate client work to do. They came in and worked on building their client base, observed experienced agents who mentored them about the mechanics of the business, and spent time researching neighborhoods and procedures to improve their skills. You don't come out of real estate school with all the knowledge and experience you need to build your business. To be successful I think you need to treat it as a full-time job. Once you are successful and have a client base and full knowledge of how to do things, you can then call your own shots, set your own hours, and decide how much you want to work.

Hello Hailey,
The answer to your question can vary... Many individuals are drawn to a realtor career due to the flexibility it offers. However, the most accomplished realtors are those who commit wholeheartedly to their profession, often investing more than the standard 40-hour work week. To gain a deeper understanding, I suggest connecting with a successful realtor in your locality and putting forth this question to them. This will provide you with the most accurate insight.
Best,
Sam
