Where are some good places to find meaningful Counseling Psychology summer internships?
I hear about many counseling psychology internships that basically have interns do more administrative work or "babysitting" clients in high risk facilities. I want to have more exposure to actual counseling sessions, learn different techniques and get enough experience to help guide me closer toward the type of psychology I want to go to Graduate School for. #counseling-psychology #psychotherapy #psychology

In an Internship you apply your theoretical studies and skills learned in class. During your internship you will gain clinical experience in a setting of your choice. You will have to do administrative work in the field of counseling as an intern and clinician. You will have to conduct an intake, assessment, write session and progress notes and treatment plans.
As an intern you will have exposure to clients. You have to decide on the population you want to work with: children, adolescence, adults, geriatrics or developmental disabled and the setting inpatient or outpatient: correction (federal or state), hospital, substance abuse or mental health. Different settings use different modalities/techniques. You would have to see which technique the facility is using.
