Hi Vannessa S. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

My answer to your question may sound oversimplified...but...here goes :). I think the best types of jobs for you to take while you are in college are those that don't impede or slow down your ability to study. Why? Because for most people, college is a step along a growth journey which generally means we go to college to graduate. If you start college, get a job but don't graduate, that is an action that may slow you down from reaching your full potential.

Speaking for myself, I had a few jobs when I was in college but none of them came before ensuring I could do my studies. Some of that had to include my own time management skills. And sometimes, that time management dictated that I couldn't go into my job on a particular day at a specific time because I had a major exam or project coming up that required my focus. At the same time, that job ensured that I had a little money in my pocket. So maybe it meant working out a compromise with my supervisor. And I do recall, in my entire college experience, one job where I had to leave because I felt there wasn't enough of an appreciation for the fact that I was a student first.

The good news is that typically, there is no shortage of jobs on and around college campuses with all types of flexibilities. Hope you find this answer useful and best of luck to you!

I don't know if you mean on campus jobs or just jobs in general, but I know certain employers offer some tuition reimbursement, like Starbucks for example. You just have to make sure to know all the requirements for it (like what are the minimum amount of hours you have to work in order to be eligible). I hope this helps!

If this is your first job I would encourage you to begin your search within on-campus jobs since they will understand that your first obligation is school, but if its not the case I will suggest looking for jobs that will allow you to have some schedule flexibility since tests, projects can get a little crazy closer to the due date. Having a flexible schedule within your job will also help you with your own class schedule. Having a job that allowed me to have people who understood I was still a student really helped me through my college career.
