What animal rescues/shelters will allow a 15year old child to volenteer?

I love animals of all kinds! They are my passion! I dream of being a vet tech or animal control officer. I’ve never been able to volunteer someplace but I really want to.

Hello, Hannah !

I have left a link for you below because your city is seeking volunteers even for your age group. All you would have to do is have a parent sign a consent form. My advice is to definitely contact them at City Hall, 420 Villa Drive. When you inquire about volunteering, let them know that you'd like to work with animals and see if they know of any appropriate volunteer work for you. I also suggest calling Save A Recue at (605) 415-3646 to see if they have volunteers in your age range. I've left the link to their website below . You can click on their "Volunteer" tab.

Another option would be to visit some pet stores and see if they would like some extra help around the store. I know that the PetCo where I live has a section in the back in the store of cats to adopt. You never know where a volunteer opportunity may be so it's good to go in person to inquire and introduce yourself and ask if they have volunteers that are your age. Also try the Parks Department of Box Elder.

I've left a link below of various jobs that you might consider if you do not happen to find a volunteer opportunity. I hope that this is helpful and I wish you all the best.

Dear Hannah,

Here are some animal rescue centers and shelters that might welcome a 15-year-old volunteer:

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) in Arlington, Virginia: AWLA offers a "Junior Volunteer" program for young people aged 15-17. Parental or guardian supervision is needed. As a volunteer, you can assist with animal care, customer service, and administrative duties.

The Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida: This society has a "Junior Volunteer" program for 15-17-year-olds. You can help with animal care, education, and events, under adult supervision.

The Nashville Humane Association in Nashville, Tennessee: They have a "Teen Volunteer" program for 14-18-year-olds eager to aid animals and learn about their humane treatment. You can assist with animal care, customer service, and educational programs.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society in Tacoma, Washington: This society has a "Teen Volunteer" program for 14-17-year-olds with an interest in animal welfare. You can help with animal care, customer service, and educational programs.

The Utah Humane Society in Murray, Utah: They offer a "Teen Volunteer" program for 14-17-year-olds who want to learn about animal welfare and help animals in need. You can assist with animal care, customer service, and educational programs.

The Washington Animal Rescue League in Washington D.C.: This league has a "Teen Volunteer" program for 14-17-year-olds interested in animal welfare. You can help with animal care, customer service, and educational programs, under adult supervision.

Please remember that volunteer requirements and age restrictions can differ by location and may change. It's important to reach out to your local animal rescue or shelter to verify their current policies and procedures for teenage volunteers. Some organizations may need parental consent or supervision for volunteers under 18.

May God bless you!
James Constantine.

Paw works! I volunteered there when I was 13. You get to spend time with puppies, kittens and dogs as well as help organize fundraisers.
