Hello,
Internships don't necessarily require good grades but if you are competing with other people you would want to have that edge on them.

Hi Valiliano,

You can absolutely do internships!

But before looking for internships you need to think a bit about what you want to do with your life. So, your grades are low - ALL grades or some grades? What are you good at, and what do you enjoy? Everybody has talents, but they are not necessarily school subjects. So, you need to find your's.

To land an internship, you need to play to your strength. So, let's say you are bad in math. You probably wouldn't want to be an accountant. But maybe you are good in Spanisch, or art, or sports. Or maybe you like to work with your hands. Or maybe you are good with kids. Or maybe you are a good empathetic listener.

Think about what jobs might appreciate those talents. You can then start to look for internships in those jobs. If your grades even come up, you can confidently tell the interviewer about your passion for this field, why you'll be good at it and where you hope to go with that experience.

You can also personally go to businesses in your neighborhood and drop off a resume. People have a harder time turning someone away when the person is standing in front of them. Be persistent (but not pesky).

If anyone you know could refer you, that would also help.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Daniele’s Answer

Hi Valiliano,

Good grades can certainly increase your chances of securing an internship at a good company, as they demonstrate your academic abilities and commitment to your studies. However, they are not the only factor that employers consider. Many companies also value relevant experience, extracurricular activities, skills, and personal qualities. Networking, building relationships with professionals in your field, and actively seeking out opportunities can help you land an internship, even if your grades are not perfect.

Best of luck!

Casei’s Answer

Having low grades doesn’t necessarily disqualify you from internships.
Unless you company you are applying for specifically requests your GPA, leave it off your resume. Instead focus on your other strengths. It also helps to get and have referrals.
