Great question! The subjects you'll focus on will largely hinge on what you're passionate about. Of course, math and science are crucial, but remember, it's equally important to carve out a life for yourself beyond the confines of academia! Hit the books hard, but also take the time to indulge in the things that light you up. Nursing is indeed a profession, but it doesn't define you entirely. So, don't forget to relish your free time.

Dear Jaylee,
Essential Qualities and Guidelines for Aspiring Nurses
Compassionate and Empathetic Nature
One of the most crucial characteristics a nurse should possess is a compassionate and empathetic heart. Nurses frequently interact with patients facing challenging situations, making it vital to offer emotional support and care.
Effective Communication Skills
Nurses must exhibit outstanding communication skills to work seamlessly with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. They must be capable of clearly explaining medical procedures and treatments, attentively listening to patients' concerns, and efficiently collaborating with the healthcare team.
Keen Attention to Detail
Nurses need to be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. They should be proficient in maintaining accurate records, administering medications correctly, and closely monitoring patients' conditions.
Physical Endurance
The nursing profession can be physically challenging, requiring nurses to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and carry out other physically demanding tasks. Therefore, nurses must possess the physical endurance to meet the job's requirements.
Critical Thinking Abilities
Nurses should have the ability to think critically and make swift decisions in high-pressure healthcare environments. They should be capable of assessing patients' conditions, identifying potential issues, and taking suitable actions.
Adaptability and Flexibility
Nurses should be adaptable and flexible to work in diverse healthcare environments and manage shifting priorities. They may find themselves working in hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes, with schedules that may change based on their patients' needs.
Commitment to Continuous Learning
Nurses should be dedicated to continuous education and professional growth to stay current with the latest medical practices and technologies. They might consider pursuing additional certifications or degrees in specialized nursing areas.
