Hi Jolene! I love to travel so happy to see that you want to as well. The good news is that you have many, many years ahead to enjoy traveling the world – most people travel into their 70’s these days (sometimes longer). While it is an exciting idea to go travel the world right after graduating college, most people cannot afford to do that so most people do not. Finding a full time job will give you the tools you need to travel, including a steady paycheck so you can save money to pay for your trips. Most full-time jobs now include 2 or more weeks of paid vacation time, so if you save money every paycheck and plan your days off accordingly, you can take some great trips in the coming years. The weeks leading up to graduation are a busy time, but starting your job search before graduating is a good idea. It will give you a head-start instead of waiting until graduation day like everyone else. Finding a full-time, stable job should be your biggest priority. If you don’t have a job that starts right after graduation and if you are able to save money to take a trip right after college without going into debt, enjoy it but still check your emails while you are traveling in case a prospective employer contacts you. For me, as the years have passed since graduating 18 years ago, the opportunities (and financial means) to travel have increased, not decreased. I’ve had friends get married overseas and I’ve been able to save money and vacation time to go enjoy those destinations that I never could have afforded right after college. Good luck finding a job and seeing the world!

If travel is a priority for you, try finding a job that involves business travel. Hopefully, most of them will survive COVID times.
For example, I worked in management consulting and travelled around 50% of my time there. Even finding a job in a company that has multiple business locations gives you opportunity to do some travels between the sites.

Hello Jolene,
Its indeed a dilemma even while I've been working for last 16yrs now.
However, the good side as Sabrina pointed out, the excursions become much nicer and more organized as you move further ahead in your life and career. You choose things which you can afford and you become a better planner. Its always easy to pick up your bag and travel if your commitment to work hasn't begun. Once it does, you learn the art of taking vacations, however you maintain your delivery and backups when you are not around.
The joy of taking vacations which working is more interesting as its a major stressbuster and gives you opportunity to unwind from hectic schedules.
Hope my experience helps you with the question.
