My understanding of what is being asked is "If internships are helpful (for full time job search), what options are there for those that cannot do an internship?"

The primary reason why we say internship is important is because it gives you exposure to a role/job duties that you may be interested it and can help you understand if you have the necessary skillsets or enjoy doin that work. There are several different options you can turn to when internship is not in the cards.

- Personal Project/ Work with Professors for a project : The best way to get yor hands dirty is to do a project to enhance your skills. For example, if it is in the Computer science field an example project is building your own website (front end and backend) to experiment with learning new coding languages and practice implementing it.

- Volunteer: There are several organizations that are looking for volunteers with skills in a wide area of domains. Volunteering some time to do some pro bono work would help in building a relevant experience in the domain of your interest, similar to an internship.

Kimberly’s Answer

Internships also let your opportunity shine to those you are interning for. So much so, if they see how well you do and they want you back they may offer you a job full time. An internship is experience but it can be an experience you enjoy for a lifetime

Doing an internship is an excellent opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge about an organization and its professional operations. It provides you with the invaluable experience of working within a company, allowing you to determine if the job aligns with your passion or if you need to redirect your career path.

Naveed recommends the following next steps:

Find your passion, things you love to do, get some basic knowledge and apply for the internship at any place related to your area of interest
