How do you break in into the cartoon industry?

One of my dreams is to write a cartoon, and I wanted to know how one would go about doing that. To clarify, I have little to no drawing skills, and I was wondering if there were any jobs that were strictly writing. #cartoons #dreamjob

I work at my local college and we direct most students who want to write to go through the english major. This gives you all the elements and foundations needed for creative writing. Taking creative writing classes as well as classes on developing the creative process helps to build your foundational skills as a writer and story teller. Additionally you should take writing workshops and seminars to also help you develop your writing skills.
Writing for moving or even sequential art still requires pacing of a story, the flow of the story, so script writing would be an essential must have as part of your education. It will not only teach you how to create mood and pace for the visual medium, but it will give you the foundations to write scripts for almost anything.
There are slight variations in pacing and scene set up between cartoons and sequential art, theater and film, but they are things that you can learn and adapt to as your progress in your chosen education track.
