How often do recent law graduates get a job without having any previous internship experience at a law firm?

I am a high school senior perusing an education to become a criminal justice attorney. While I will make it a priority to get internship and experience, I recognize that it may be an obstacle. I want to know the likelihood of a job fresh out of college. #jobs #lawyer #internships #criminal-justice

So it's probably an obstacle because you need flexible experience. Try getting a freelanship (freelance internship). You need to get experience to get a job upon graduation. That's all their is to it! Here's a website that provides project-based internships to students for free - http://freelanship.com. =) I actually created it. Hope it helps.

My wife is an attorney. In high school, she worked for an attorney for minimal pay. This is harder to do now in high school since there is no “filing.” Everything is electronic and sensitive as far as computer information and privacy concerns. She did legal internships in the summers between law school years, but the internships did not pay. Perhaps the experience is different at high ranked law schools though.

Hi,

It is important to get some legal experience while you are in law school. There are several opportunities for law students to gain experience. They can work for a law firm as a law clerk, as an intern for a judge, as an intern for the government (such as a district attorney's office or public defender's office), or as an intern for a non-profit. Keep in mind that your law school grades are also important. Good luck!
