Hello! I can share from my own experience that I've worked as a substitute teacher. Usually, having a college degree is a must. I had the opportunity to lead classrooms and even got to teach in college as an assistant. Schools are always on the lookout for individuals who are passionate about teaching. So, I would highly recommend submitting your application. Don't forget to highlight any relevant work experience you possess. It's your time to shine!

Hi there! Each state and school district may have its own unique requirements for substitutes. Some might ask for a substitute license, a high school diploma or GED, while others might need you to have completed a certain number of college hours or even hold a degree. It all depends on where you're planning to apply. But no matter where that is, I urge you to put your application in and grab the opportunity to gain some valuable hands-on experience. Wishing you all the best!

In Nevada you need a substiute teacher licence. You need a bachelors degree in any field or 60 hours of education classes at a community college or university. In Florida you do not need a license and each district has thier own criteria. You need at least a high school diploma or GED.

In Alabama to you will need a substitute teacher licence. The job does not require college education to become a substitute teacher, but does require a high-school diploma or GED equivalent. Prospective substitute teachers must also pass criminal background checks with both state and federal agencies, as well as going in for fingerprinting.
