Hi Emma! During my Junior/Senior year of college, I started applying for post-grad jobs through posts on LinkedIn and any company's website. To land my current position, I was given a recruiter's email. I reached out to the recruiter to discuss my resume and why I was interested in the firm. Through our conversation, she said my experiences would fit X role. I applied to the job, went through the interview process, and received an offer! If you're looking for advice on the job searching process, I'd recommend reaching out to recruiters at the company you're looking into. This will help you get your foot in the door easier than just applying to the jobs. Best of luck.

I discovered my dream job by keenly following my dream company. Ever since my freshman year in college back in 2015, I had my heart set on working at PwC. It wasn't until 2023 that I finally landed a role that perfectly matched my skills and experience.
In my opinion, a dream job is about more than just the work itself. It's about the team you become a part of, the people you collaborate with, and the shared mission to achieve common goals. It's also about the company you're part of - does it resonate with your values, does it promote a healthy work-life balance, and what kind of benefits does it offer? I was fortunate to find my dream job that ticked all these boxes.

Hi Emma,
I currently work at Walt Disney World on the Disney Conservation team as a social scientist and community engagement specialist. I have been here about 6 months and can't see myself working anywhere else! I found this position on the AZA job board and the Disney Jobs website. I've always wanted to work for Disney and didn't really know how to earlier in my career. Once I decided I'm going to pursue that dream, I started checking the Disney Jobs website daily to see what was being posted.
If you're looking for advice on how to find a job, I would definitely recommend checking out Indeed.com for postings since they have so many. If you have a specific company that you want to work for, or industry you want to work in, look at their websites too. I worked in AZA accredited zoos for most of my career, so I always look at the AZA job board when I'm thinking of moving to a new position. If you want to work in Psychology, the American Psychological Association is that place to look, if you're looking to get into Education then check your district's website. Whatever industry you're interested in, get on their networks and websites.
Side note: I saw that you're from Oakland, NJ. I went to Indian Hills High School!

Hi Emma -
This is a long story, I'll do my best. Migrated to the US in 05' from South America. Took the 1st job available while trying to support 2 younger sisters and go to college. Did not expect to stay at this job but after a few years realized I was starting to like it, so began making better efforts. My efforts were realized and I began getting promoted and spent the next 9 years with the company until I found a better job in the same field. At this new company, many new opportunities came up and I am still there for almost 10 years now, and love what I do. That 1st job was a good stepping stone to getting me here.
I've never known the definition of a "dream job". Due to my life situation, some of it I highlighted above, I accepted what was available to me and made the most of it. I am happy to say though, that I continued growing professionally, and over the past few years, I do feel as though I am hitting all the points on what some may call their dream job. Sometimes you do things out of obligation and it turns into blessings...as such I would encourage you to just keep doing your best. Even better if you DO have a "dream job" in mind, as you now have a goal in front of you to work towards, GO for it, you can do it!

I was fortunate enough to be recommended by a friend! I put in a lot of effort to familiarize myself with the STARS interview format, which helped me prepare for several interviews within the company for my role. I hope this information proves useful to you! Keep going, you've got this!

Hello Emma,
I discovered my present position, or more accurately, my workplace, via a local recruitment agency. At first, I was brought on board for a completely different role as an external resource. However, over the years, I transitioned into my current marketing role and was fortunate enough to secure a permanent employment contract.
Wishing you all the best!

I started off as a delivery driver. I started my own company on the side while doing that.
I took my experience and education and turned those into a sales manager role.
Ultimately turned that into a Director, Senior Director and then a Vice President of Sales role.
I get paid to help people solve a problem they have and love it!

Dear Emma,
Greetings from Down Under! My journey with computer programming began in 1972, during my school days. Fast forward to 1988, I earned my stripes as a dietitian-nutritionist. In 1994, I decided to merge my two passions, leading to the creation of nutrition education software. Today, I am utilizing the United States Department of Agriculture's Standard Reference 28 database in my work.
May you be blessed!
