Is it better to volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center or a zoo if you want to be a vet tech or animal rescuer?
I really want to be a vet tech. It is a life dream.

Hello, Hannah !
You should follow your dream of becoming a Veterinary Technician because you can make an important contribution through your chosen career.
Doing volunteer work is a valuable experience that will teach and enrich your professional goals and having the experience anywhere will be a huge benefit to you.
My advice is to seek out volunteer work in any and all places. The two you have mentioned would be equally beneficial to you. It will be important for you to be familiar with many different animals and those two places would give you that opportunity. In addition to those, you can apply to volunteer with South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks https://gfp.sd.gov/volunteer/ Also, doing volunteer work at Save A Rescue would be wonderful experience, too https://savearescue.org/pet-services-directory/listing/box-elder-animal-control-officer
Even if you do not do any hands-on work during your volunteer work, it would be a good experience to observe what happens and how things are run at various places. Once you are enrolled in school, you will learn everything you'll need to know in order to begin employment. Keep an open mind about volunteer work and see what is available in your local area. Look into ranches and farms that may be a possibility for volunteer work. By volunteering at a variety of places, you would be the one to know which you like best, but to learn you must start out with being flexible.
I wish you all the best with your volunteering and education !
