Madison, I am glad to see that you fully understand that college is more than simply grades, its learning to cope as you enter adulthood, and creating memories to last a life time.

So how do you balance it? Many struggle with this, and it is different for everyone, I was the type that could manage decent grades with some studying, some can make great grades and never study, other need to study very hard to just pass a course, So it starts with your course work, and how much time you need to finish you assignments. study for tests and hold yourself accountable for it.

Sometimes it helps to start with a study group that has the same assignments and classes, so that you start your social network of with common ground, and understanding of what each is facing, this will allow you to mingle the social and the good grades together. Look at how your grades are, and are you satisfied with them. If yes then you have the right balance, if not, then you need to consider more time on the study and less on the social.

College is meant to be able to learn social skills, and decision making, and to go out to the club with the gang , or stay in and study is a choice every student has to make, its call choices. Hold yourself accountable for what you know you are capable of doing for grades, and then allot the time needed to make that happen, then take time to socialize, go out, have fun, and make memories, good grades and good memories are both very important.

Be sure to schedule all your activities. College's best part is your social life. The more people you meet the more potential connections. Only hold those hours a day to study.

Lucas’s Answer

Hi there. College really doesn’t require a heavy workload for most degrees. You can easily have plenty of time for socializing and fun by working smart and sticking to a schedule. I used to get up and go to class or the library every weekday from 8am to around 1-2pm. I’d schedule my classes in the morning and then when I didn’t have class would study in the library. This meant I had all afternoon free. The key is to stick to it. When things get tough is if you neglect school and have to cram at the end for mediocre grades. Good luck
