There are many interpretations of a movie critic experience currently. If you are referring to a film critic sponsored or working for a major newspaper or online source I would highly recommend reaching out to a film critic you like over social media. We are all very different in our methods and preference of films. Twitter is an exceptional tool for following critics you will be able to see their taste in films and how they analyze them as well. For myself I break down a film into four main categories; writing, cinematography, edit, and entertainment. The reason being that this covers almost all forms of filmmaking from my perspective. Now I consider myself a critic but I am not paid for what I do. I have been a critic for the Sarasota Film Festival for a brief time as well as at my schools but for the most part I write on my own for fun. Again it's really a matter of perspective and what your definition of a film critic is, that is why I strongly encourage you to seek out your favorite critics and ask them questions about their process and experiences. I highly doubt that any of them would not be willing to talk with you about their experiences. I hope this helped you in some way shape or form as you move forward in you journey.
