Hi Kane,

You can learn to be a plumber by doing a 4-year apprenticeship with a plumber. If you look on job search sites like Indeed or LinkedIn for appreticeships, you can find some in your area. Or you can look up plumbing businesses in your area and ask if they are taking on apprentices. As an apprentice, you should get paid.

Alternatively, some trade schools and community colleges offer courses and degrees in plumbing.

You'll probably need a license to be a journeyman plumber. Check the regulations for your state. Get some more experience working for someone, then get a license as master plumber. In the long(ish) run you can aim to start your own business.

Do you need a college degree to become a plumber? This field does not require a college degree. Aspiring plumbers must complete a supervised plumbing apprenticeship to earn a license.

Don't waste your time on a degree, become an apprentice and go to the plumbing school your employer sends you to. Some states require you attend certain schools, which is what they do here in PA. Some companies have their own form of school, this is just a joke and won't allow you to become licensed here. As an apprentice you will learn what you need to do, also check your state laws on how to become a plumber. It will be hard work and physical, but this can be determined by the environment you get into. New construction, service, or the healthcare system.
