To clarify, asking "How to become a Bookkeeper" is much different than being an Accountant and much easier. Becoming a bookkeeper does not involve any degree. You need skills in organization, math, logic and detail along with basic accounting and computer understanding and then find a company to hire you. You may be a bookkeeper within a company or work for an independent firm that provides services to other, generally small, companies. Responsibilities usually include making deposits for company receipts, paying bills (once you determine they are legitimate), recording income and expenses, maybe doing some collection calls for unpaid bills, balancing the ledger, IE: books of record, to bank statements and issuing period financial statements. You might, but not always, need to understand and maybe help create a yearly budget. You may do simple, year-end tax returns, but that might fall to an accountant or CPA - which is another more advanced profession. If you like math and like things to be in balance, go for it.
