You need to have confidence, know you are a good phlebotomist, and let the interviewer know as well. Some places want new phlebs to train as they want them to be. Just be persistent, confident, and true to yourself the rest will come.
Hint for Oklahoma.... OBI trains their own so they like to train new eager phlebotomist......

I agree with Allyson. Have confidence. Don't worry about who's applying. Worry about yourself. Apply! Apply! Apply! You miss 100% of opportunities you don't take.

I would recommend you update your resume. Grab some details from the job requirements and add them to your resume. Volunteer at some places that have the requirements such as the job you're looking to apply for. Get a mentor that has the same career path that you're wanting to take. Watch YouTube videos on the life of whatever it is you're wanting to go into. Continue to educate yourself until that opportunity becomes available. That way you're familiar with and know that's what you want to do everyday. When someone considers you then you'll have the tools and resources to blow their socks off. Always remember when you get the opportunity to interview you are being considered. You got this.

There are some things you can do.

- Get relevant work experience or volunteering. Even if you only have retail or other unrelated jobs, you should be able to explain how that experience has improved your customer service/communication skills.

- Apply to beginner/ entry-level positions on job sites like Indeed and try to get interviews. You may be discouraged, but if you apply to postings, eventually someone may call you for an interview. If company is looking for intern, apply for those positions.

- Update your resume with keywords and tailor it so the company will see you as a potential candidate. HR will screen your resume and if you are not a fit, you have low odds of getting an interview.

- Prepare for interviews. Try to be natural and have a set of questions/answers ready. You do not want to sound rehearsed/robotic, but you want to have a conversation with them and let them know how you can be an asset.

- Network with your friends and create LinkedIn profile. Before interviews, someone at company is likely to do research. If you have presentable profile, you will make a good first impression.
