Doc’s Answer

Blake thanks in part to most of the website builders, it’s easier than ever to create your own website without any web design experience or coding knowledge. There are even website builders that cater to specific uses, such as e-commerce stores, portfolio websites and blogs. The best website builders are easy to use, affordable and allow plenty of room for growth. There are many website builders on the market and most deliver a solid set of hosting, storage, security, design and online sales tools. However, some rise above the rest when it comes to specialty features, and that might make the difference for your needs. Most of the website builders provide a free domain name for your first year or more, but after the introductory period, you might have an added fee of $20 per year for your domain name. Other costs you might encounter with a website builder are premium design templates, added storage or bandwidth and add-on apps that expand features, such as advanced shipping or email marketing tools.

• WIX — Overall best free website builder great for beginners as it’s easy to use and comes with multi-lingual phone support. Paid plans also offer a Site Booster app that increases your overall visibility.
• GODADDY — Ideal for those looking for a website maker that’s equally effective for digital marketing. With its free plan, you can manage email and social media marketing all in one place.
• WEEBLY — One of the best free e-commerce website builders that lets you list unlimited products, even on the free plan.
• SITE123 – The easiest free website builder for beginners due to its easy-to-use dashboard.
• WORDPRESS — Free and easy-to-use website builder with impressive security tools like built-in spam blocking and brute-force attack protection.

Hope this was helpful Blake

Michelle’s Answer

Hello, Blake !

To discover the best site for building your website would be up to you to evaluate various sites and see which ones are suitable for the kind of website you need to create. Your first step is to get a collection of websites that offer website hosting or building and narrow it down to one or two and than choose one. You can also ask more specific questions such as which is the best for creating a teaching website, a language website, a personal or business website, an online portfolio, a selling website, etc. There's a lot out there.

Are you already a web builder or would you need a basic website that directs you how to use the web builder ? It's hard to advise when the subject is so broad and specifics could make a difference. Do you want a completely free website or one that you have to pay for monthly or yearly ?

Your tags indicate that you are interested in Teaching and Foreign Language. If your website would be for that, you can try:
WEEBLY https://www.weebly.com/
SCHOLASTIC https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/teaching-tools/home.html
NING https://www.ning.com/create-educational-website/
EDUCATORS TECHNOLOGY https://www.educatorstechnology.com/
TEACHABLE https://teachable.com/
ED 2 GO https://www.ed2go.com/courses/teacher-professional-development/classroom-technology/ilc/creating-classroom-web-site

If you'd like to teach one on one private courses, you can consider utilizing Zoom, Web Ex or Skype or any of the other similar online resources.

Also remember that having a website is important, useful and awesome, but people will need to know that you have a service that you provide so you should supplement the website with as much in-person networking as possible. Send notices out and get business cards made with your web URL on the card. List yourself in service directories that you can find online through a search. That will increase your possible clients, students or customers.

I hope that this was of help and have fun choosing a web builder ! Wishing you all the best !

Karin’s Answer

Hi Blake,

The best website builder depends on what you want to do with it. Check a couple of sites that compare website builders and give you the pros and cons, and make your decision.

Dome points to consider:
What do you want to do with the website?
Do you just want to write a blog?
Do you want an online store?
Is it for a professional portfolio?
Is it going to be a private site or a business website?
Are you going to program it from scratch or do you want to use templates?
Is it important for you to have your own name (vs. being under Wordpress e.g.)?
Are you willing and able to pay for it, or are you looking for something free?

I hope this helps! Good luck!

KP
