Nowadays 'art' revolves around several career paths. It's not the same being a muscician to being an animator, or background artist, or being a performer. It is a succesful career? it depends on you and the steps you've taken to put yourself out there, also you need to have the resources that will help you push through the initial drudgery of finding your first job. You must be a genious and/or have really good connections to get entry right away, however if you have none of that then its an constant arduous process, not impossible, but you'll need a lot of patience and be very disciplined.

Ana Josefa’s Answer

Yes, art is a successful career. An artist can achieve success in art if he does it from the heart and if he really likes what he does. This causes greater impact and connection to the viewer who looks at the artist's work. On the other hand, being an artist has its advantages because it has no age limit. You can be successful or famous at 90 years old.
