To be active in class and engage in discussions with friends in college, it's important to come prepared by reviewing the material beforehand and taking notes during lectures. Sitting up front can help you stay focused, and actively participating in class discussions by sharing your thoughts and asking questions shows your engagement. It's crucial to listen actively to the professor and classmates, respecting their opinions and ideas. Forming study groups with friends can provide an opportunity to discuss and debate the material outside of class. Utilizing technology tools, such as online discussion boards or group apps, can facilitate ongoing discussions and resource sharing. Keeping an open mind and managing your time effectively are also key to being active and involved in class. Remember, being active in class and engaging in discussions with your friends is not only beneficial for your learning but also a great way to expand your knowledge!

There's lots of ways to be active in class! The first one is to pay attention and be intuitive to what is being asked or talked about. This will always give you an opportunity to ask a question or even for clarity on a topic. If you're like myself where almost EVERYTHING was difficult or confusing, just ask for help. You and your friends could open discussions as well by talking to your peers about topics or brainstorming about your upcoming lessons as well.

I would recommend grabbing a seat up front during class. It's a neat trick to stay focused and catch every word the teacher says. Also, jotting down notes can be a real game-changer. And remember, if something is confusing, don't hesitate to raise your hand. Asking questions is a great way to learn, and it might even help your classmates too! After class, it's a good idea to go over what you've learned and summarize the concepts, and it'll be helpful for studying your notes later on.

To be active in class raise your hand to ask a question or answer a question. Pay attention without being distracted. Encourage other students to participate to engage more people in the conversation.

Always attend. Sit in the first 3 rows. Ask yourself, "What would I do if my goals was to learn as much as I could, rather than try to get a certain grade?"

As others have pointed out, taking time to prepare before class, such as reviewing your notes and revisiting lectures, can be a powerful way to boost your participation. Even a little background knowledge can make you feel more at ease when it comes to answering questions in class. But here's the most important advice: don't fear making mistakes. Anyone in class has the potential to raise their hand and provide an answer. The problem is, many people hesitate because they're not completely sure of their answer and they fear the embarrassment of being wrong. But remember, everyone stumbles at some point. In fact, many of the greatest minds in the world have reached their heights through a series of failures. Once you embrace the fact that you don't have all the answers, it becomes much easier to put yourself out there without fear.
