Great question. When I coach those I support, I tell them to imagine they are getting a lifetime achievement award. I have them pretend they are sitting in the audience and someone is talking about the great things they did to get the award. Write down what you hope/think they would say about you. This could give you a start in understanding your end goals.
For me, I have always wanted to help people and I have dreamed of traveling the Untied States and speaking at conferences.
With that in mind, I know I need to contact conferences and let them know I'd like to speak. I break that down into smaller pieces and have a few hours a month where I just contact conference planners and see if they are seeking additional speakers.
Consider What You Want Out Of Life
Work Backwards To Break Those Items Into Small Pieces
Set Time Aside Weekly or Monthly To Work Towards Those Goals
Consistent Actions Over Time Will Help You Get There

Start with planning the steps to get to your end goal, then work on each step at a time, knowing future steps may change.
Write vision that will inspire you. Then break it down into manageable end goals, how can I make progress on this in the next:
- 5 years
- 4 months
- 3 weeks
- 2 days
- 1 hour
Be sure to pace yourself to keep engaged and invested. It’s ok if future steps need to change. Take any learning required to complete steps.

Hello Korbin,
It's wonderful to have ambitions, but it's crucial to ensure they are attainable and grounded in reality. My advice is to start small. Establish a target that's within your grasp, and you'll discover that setting future goals becomes less daunting. The sense of achievement I felt each time I accomplished a goal and ticked it off my list was so exciting. This propelled me to continually set new targets in both my personal and professional life.
Consider setting simple goals like committing to drink 8 glasses of water daily for a week, or taking a stroll around your block every day for the upcoming month. These are relatively straightforward goals to accomplish, and guess what - they can quickly become healthy habits!
Encourage yourself to step out of your comfort zone and keep building upon your goals. This way, you're not just setting goals, but also actively working towards achieving them.

Goal setting is like making a map for your journey. Imagine you want to go on a big adventure, like climbing a mountain or building a cool project. Your end goal is reaching the mountaintop or finishing the project. But to get there, you need a plan!
First, think about where you want to go (your end goal). Then, break it down into smaller steps, like checkpoints along the way. These steps are your goals. Each time you reach one, you're getting closer to your big goal!
Remember, it's okay if the path isn't always straight. Sometimes you might take a detour or face challenges. That's normal! Just keep your end goal in mind and adjust your plan as needed. And don't forget to celebrate each step you complete—it's like collecting treasures on your journey! With determination and a clear plan, you can reach any goal you set for yourself.

One tactic that might help is trying to identify and connect with someone who has already done what you aspire to do. You will learn a lot faster from understanding the journey someone has already taken to achieve the goals you want instead of trying to figure out everything by yourself from scratch. This could take the form of a direct mentorship or even browsing LinkedIn to find individuals who have achieved your aspirations and looking back through their career and education history as inspirational next steps for you toward a similar journey.

Dear Korbin,
Mastering the Art of Reaching Your Ultimate Goals
The journey towards personal advancement and triumph is paved with the setting and attainment of goals. Here's a roadmap to guide you towards your ultimate goals:
1. Pinpoint Your Ultimate Goals: The journey to your ultimate goals begins with a clear and precise definition of what they are. Ensure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) to provide you with a distinct path and purpose.
2. Segment Your Goals: After pinpointing your ultimate goals, divide them into smaller, manageable tasks or milestones. This approach makes the process less daunting and allows you to monitor your progress more effectively.
3. Construct a Blueprint: Formulate a comprehensive blueprint detailing the steps required to reach your ultimate goals. Set deadlines for each task and rank them based on their significance and urgency.
4. Maintain Enthusiasm: Keeping your enthusiasm alive throughout the goal-setting journey is crucial. Regularly remind yourself of the reasons behind these goals and imagine the rewards of achieving them.
5. Rally Support: Don't hesitate to rally support from friends, family, mentors, or professionals in the field relevant to your ultimate goals. A supportive network can provide much-needed encouragement and guidance.
6. Track Your Progress: Frequently assess your progress towards your ultimate goals. Celebrate minor victories along the way and tweak your blueprint if required.
7. Navigate Hurdles: Recognize that hurdles and setbacks are inherent in the journey towards goal achievement. Learn from these challenges, adjust your strategy if necessary, and continue to press on.
8. Remain Steadfast: Consistency is the cornerstone of working towards your ultimate goals. Remain steadfast in the process, even when confronted with obstacles or distractions.
By adhering to these steps and keeping your eyes on the prize, you can enhance your likelihood of successfully reaching your ultimate goals in psychology, social work, or any other field you aim to thrive in.
